This hackathon is for builders who want to ship products people love — tools that make healthcare easier to navigate, help people get better outcomes, and reduce the pain of dealing with the system.

That could mean a wearable integration that makes daily biometrics actually useful, a smarter medication tracker, an insurance copilot, a care-navigation tool, or something even more ambitious.

Teams can have up to four people. You can also come solo, and we will make it easy to meet potential teammates and form a team on the day.

Schedule

July 25 — Kick-off and Build Day

10:00 AM — Doors open, breakfast and mingling.

10:30 AM — Event kick-off, with speakers from Juno and Vercel, followed by the challenge briefing.

11:00 AM — Team formation and building begins. Solo participants can meet teammates here.

12:00 PM — Lunch.

12:30 PM — Build sprint and mentor support.

3:00–3:20 PM — UX/UI talk given by Marshall.

3:20 PM — Building resumes, with mentor office hours and product feedback.

6:00 PM — Dinner.

6:30 PM — Evening build sprint.

July 26 — Submission and Awards Day

Morning — Final build sprint, testing and mentor check-ins.

12:00 PM — Submission deadline. All projects must be submitted by this time.

12:00–1:30 PM — Judging and finalist demos.

1:30 PM — Final judging deliberation and attendees regroup.

2:00 PM — Winners announced, prize ceremony and celebration.

2:30 PM — Closing remarks and networking.

3:00 PM — Event closes.

Note: No one likes sitting through talks during a hackathon, so we’ve deliberately kept them to an absolute minimum. The priority is giving you as much uninterrupted building time as possible.

By registering for or attending this event (the “Event”), you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

Photography and Recording

Photography, audio recording and video recording may take place at the Event. Your image, voice and likeness may be captured and used by SharedGenes, the Event organisers, sponsors and service providers for Event coverage, communications and promotional materials. If you prefer not to be photographed or recorded, please contact the hosts through Luma before the Event or tell a member of the Event team at check-in. We will make reasonable efforts to respect your request.

Personal Data and Communications

SharedGenes and the Event organisers may process information supplied through registration or participation, including your name, contact details, company or university, professional profiles, application answers, submitted projects and judging results, where reasonably necessary to administer the Event, communicate with participants, operate judging, maintain safety and fulfil prizes.

Limited participant information may be shared with judges, sponsors, the venue and service providers where reasonably necessary for those purposes and in accordance with applicable data-protection law. Where consent is required, marketing communications will be sent only with that consent. You can opt out of marketing at any time. Questions or objections about use of your data can be sent to the Event hosts through Luma.

Projects, Health Information and Responsible Use

Do not use confidential information, identifiable patient information or real personal health data in a submission unless you have a lawful basis, all required permissions and appropriate safeguards. Participants should use synthetic, properly anonymised or authorised data wherever possible.

Projects and demonstrations created during the Event are prototypes for educational and judging purposes. They must not be presented as medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and must not be used for clinical decision-making without appropriate professional review, validation and regulatory compliance.

Participants are responsible for complying with applicable laws, licences, platform terms, API terms and third-party rights.

Conduct and Safety

Participants must behave respectfully and must not engage in harassment, discrimination, intimidation, unsafe conduct or unlawful activity. The Event organisers may refuse entry or remove anyone whose conduct threatens the safety, wellbeing or fair participation of others.

Intellectual Property

Intellectual-property rights in prototypes, code, designs, documentation and other outputs created by participants remain with the relevant participant or team. Each participant is responsible for ensuring that their work is original or properly licensed and does not infringe another person’s rights.

Participants grant SharedGenes, the Event organisers and sponsors a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to display the participant’s name, team name, project title and submitted demo solely for judging, Event reporting and promotion of the Event, while ownership remains with the participant or team.

Judging and Prizes

Judging decisions are final. Prizes are subject to eligibility, availability and any additional terms imposed by the relevant prize provider. A prize provider may require reasonable identity, eligibility, tax or payment information before fulfilment. Winners are responsible for any taxes or charges arising from a prize. If a stated non-cash prize becomes unavailable, the relevant prize provider may substitute an item or benefit of comparable value.

Risk and Liability

Participants attend and take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own belongings, equipment, travel and personal wellbeing. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SharedGenes, the Event organisers, venue, sponsors and service providers are not responsible for indirect loss, loss of opportunity, theft or damage arising from participation in the Event. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Changes, Cancellation and Governing Law

SharedGenes and the Event organisers may reasonably change the schedule, speakers, format, venue, judging arrangements or prizes, or postpone or cancel the Event where necessary. Material changes will be communicated through Luma where practicable.

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction.

SharedGenes may update these Terms and Conditions before the Event. The version published on the Event page at the time of attendance will apply.
