About this plan

Leave your phone at home and pick a challenge for a Saturday out of London on Box Hill.

Choose your adventure

🥾 A 7 to 10km scenic hike🏃 A 15 to 20km trail run

Box Hill is on the North Downs, under an hour by train from central London. Its chalk slopes, woodland paths and views across the Weald make it one of the best places to get into nature by London.

There are two meeting points: London Victoria and Clapham Junction. One of our hosts will be there to meet you at each station, we will then all travel down on the same train.Once we arrive there's a briefing, then we split into two groups. Afterwards everyone will meet up for a well deserved lunch and chit chat at a local pub.

After lunch you can choose whether to head home or come along to another pub to watch the Scotland V New Zealand rugby. You're welcome to join either group.

The day

07:45: Meet at London Victoria or Clapham Junction

Around 9:40: Run and hike begin

Around 12:45: Pub lunch together

After lunch: head on to watch the rugby, or catch the train back to London, arriving:

14:38: Back at Clapham Junction

14:45: Back at London Victoria

What's included

Organised phone free group day out

Return train ticket from London to Box Hill & Westhumble

A guided 7 to 10km hike or 15 to 20km trail run

Great company!

What isn't included

Food or drinks

Travel onto the pub to watch the rugby

Who is this for?

Anyone who wants to:

Meet like minded people

Spend more time outdoors

Take a break from screens

If you're running, you should be comfortable covering 15 to 20km off road with some steep hills. If you'd rather go at a gentler pace then pick the hike.

Important information

Tell us about any medical conditions or accessibility requirements before attending. There is space for this on the sign up form.

On the form, let us know whether you'd like to run or hike and which station you'll meet us at.

Community

This event is part of the No Tech Adventures community where we aim to connect people through spending more time offline in nature.

Once you've booked, you'll get an invitation to our WhatsApp community. We share meeting details, weather updates and everything else you need there before the day.

FAQ

Can I come alone?Absolutely!! Most people do and we plan the day so that you can get to know and connect with likeminded people

What happens if it rains?Light rain isn't a problem, though the trails will be muddier. If conditions become unsafe we'll let everyone know as early as we can.

What do I do with my phone? We recommend leaving it at home so you can really experience a No Tech Adventure. If you need to bring it for any reason, that's fine. When we hand you your paper train ticket at the station, you switch your phone fully off and it stays off until we're back.

Both hosts carry a phone for emergencies, so you won't be out of reach if something comes up.

We'll share the meeting point details on WhatsApp before the day, so make a physical note of them. All you need to bring is your bank card and turn up at 07:45.
